Data Deletion Policy

At Scaler School of Technology (“SST”), we respect your right to control your personal data. This page explains what data we hold, how you can request its deletion, and what happens when you do.
1. What Data Can Be Deleted
Authentication Data (Fully Deletable)
The following data can be completely removed upon request:
- Your account profile (name, email, profile photo as stored in our system)
- Authentication session data and tokens
- Role assignments and access permissions
- Session cookies and preferences
Institutional Academic Data (Retained by Institution)
The following data is part of SST's institutional records and may be retained independently of your App account, in accordance with institutional record-keeping policies:
- Attendance records
- Academic results and grades
- Course enrollment history
- Credit records (PDC, Industry Immersion)
Deletion of your App account will remove your ability to access this data through the App, but the underlying institutional records may continue to exist in SST's administrative systems as required by educational regulations.
2. How to Request Data Deletion
Option A: Email Request
Send an email to internaltools@scaler.com with the subject line “Data Deletion Request” and include:
- Your full name
- Your registered email address
- Your student/employee ID (if applicable)
- A clear statement that you wish to delete your data from the SST Dashboard
Option B: Contact Your Administrator
You may also contact your SST administrator directly to request account and data removal.
3. What Happens After a Deletion Request
- Acknowledgment: We will acknowledge your request within 2 business days.
- Verification: We will verify your identity to prevent unauthorized deletion requests.
- Processing: Your authentication data will be deleted within 14 business days of verification.
- Confirmation: You will receive a confirmation email once deletion is complete.
4. Effects of Data Deletion
Once your data is deleted:
- You will no longer be able to sign in to the App
- Your profile information will be removed from the App's database
- Any active sessions will be terminated immediately
- This action is irreversible — re-enrollment would require a new account to be created by an administrator
5. Third-Party Data
In addition to deleting data from our systems, we will request deletion of your data from third-party services used by the App:
- Clerk: Your authentication profile and session data will be deleted from Clerk's systems.
Note: Data shared with Google through OAuth is governed by Google's account permissions. You can revoke the App's access to your Google account at any time through your Google Account settings.
6. Data Retention After Deletion
After processing your deletion request, we may retain certain data only if required by:
- Applicable laws or regulations
- Institutional accreditation requirements
- Ongoing legal proceedings
Any retained data will be anonymized where possible and will not be used for any purpose other than compliance with the above requirements.
