Scaler School of Technology (“SST”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the SST Dashboard application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information Collected During Authentication
When you sign in via Google OAuth, we receive the following from your Google account:
- Full name
- Email address
- Profile photo URL
Authentication is handled by Clerk, a third-party authentication provider. Your password is never stored or processed by SST.
1.2 Academic and Institutional Data
The App displays academic data that is maintained by the institution. This includes but is not limited to:
- Attendance records (session-level presence, absence, and late marks)
- Academic results and grades
- Course enrollment and credit information
- Personality Development Credits (PDC)
- Industry Immersion records
- Batch, term, and section assignments
This data is not collected by the App from you. It is sourced from institutional records and displayed for your convenience. The App functions primarily as a read-only display layer for pre-existing institutional data.
1.3 Automatically Collected Information
When you access the App, we may automatically collect:
- Device type and operating system
- Browser type and version
- IP address
- Usage patterns and access timestamps
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information to:
- Authenticate and authorize your access to the App
- Display your academic records, attendance, grades, and credits
- Assign appropriate role-based access (student, faculty, instructor, administrator)
- Send institutional announcements and notifications
- Improve the App's functionality and user experience
- Ensure the security and integrity of the platform
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:
- Clerk (Authentication Provider): To manage sign-in and session management.
- Institutional Administrators: Faculty and administrators can access student academic data as part of their institutional roles.
- Service Providers: Cloud hosting and database providers that process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements.
- Legal Requirements: When required by law, regulation, or legal process.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure. We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
- Role-based access controls
- Secure authentication via OAuth 2.0
- Regular security reviews
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the App's services. Academic data is retained in accordance with institutional record-keeping policies. Upon account deletion, your authentication data will be removed, though institutional academic records may be retained separately by SST.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and associated authentication data
- Object to or restrict certain processing of your data

7. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with the following third-party services:

- Neon (PostgreSQL) — Database hosting.
- Vercel — Application hosting and deployment.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is intended for use by enrolled students, faculty, and administrators of Scaler School of Technology. We do not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
